CCA Swimmers Train at Olympic Training Center

CCA Swimmers Get Opportunity of a Lifetime. Train at Olympic Training Center

Two members of the Community Christian Academy Swim Team who are also members of the Paducah Swim Team had an exciting Fall Break. They were able to go and train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

John Carter Chappell, 9th grade, and Makayla Abner, 8th grade, flew to Colorado for the training as part of the 20+ member Paducah Swim Team. The Paducah team was only one of three teams that participated. The other two were from California.

The CCA students got to meet and observe United States Olympic Swim Team members Elizabeth Beisel, Missy Franklin, and Nathan Adrian.

John Carter was particularly impressed with the Paralympic Swimmers who are amputees and Special Needs athletes. “Their times were amazing,” John Carter said, “in spite of some not having arms or legs.”

The students also got to watch Olympic team members from other sports including basketball.

Mr. Kevin Blum, Paducah Swim Team Coach, and former Olympic coach was able to arrange for the CCA students to have the experience.
